Businesses Urged To Create Shared Value

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC), Alexander Kofi-Mensah Mould, has urged businesses to adopt shared value management strategy.

He asked companies to address problems relating to their businesses by focusing on shared value strategy to primarily reap profit.

“It is a value that resonates with the vision of founding fathers of Accra Academy which has helped all old students in their careers and shaped individual world views,” he said.

He said the role of business is changing rapidly from its traditional task of profit maximization to catering for the needs of society.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become inadequate, given increases in societal needs resulting in global demands to incorporate ‘Shared Value’ strategy.

He emphasized the importance of education in businesses, asking companies to invest more in the country’s economy.

The GNPC boss made this remark at a lecture to commemorate the 85th Founders’ Day of the Accra Academy held at the British Council Hall, Accra.

The lecture is the 11th in the series institutionalized in 1991 to immortalize the memory of the founders of the school.

Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Felix Nyarko-Pong, in his remarks, reminded past and current students of the virtues on which Accra Academy was founded.

He called for greater collaboration to improve standards of the Accra Academy.

Principal of Accra Academy, Samuel Ofori-Adjei, said the lecture is a crucial part of anniversary celebrations of the educational institution.

He expressed gratitude to the 1978 Year Group for the effective organization and assured all students- both past and past- to maintain the values of Accra Academy.
