Cameroon jails 2 transgender women

A court in Cameroon has jailed two transgender women.

The two women have been slapped with a five years prison sentence.

They were sentenced for “attempted homosexuality.”

The two transgender women are Loic Njeukam, also known as Shakiro on social media, and Roland Mouthe, alias Patricia.

They were arrested in February 2021.

But human rights activists say their arrest is part of a growing trend in Cameroon to criminalize sexual minorities and transgender people.
