Car Snatching Syndicate Busted

The suspects

The Eastern Regional Police Command is holding five suspected members of a car snatching syndicate who were arrested in various parts of the country.

The ringleaders- Abadji Tetteh, a 42-year-old driver and Solomon Kojo, 24, were arrested Sunday dawn at Somanya and Ashiaman Middle East respectively by the police.

According to the police, the other suspects- Latif Alhassan, 22, scrap dealer, Francis Sam, driver and resident of Weija and Kwasi Nyamekye, 31, sprayer at SCC- Kasoa, were also arrested by police based on intelligence at their respective places on 4th September, 2018.

The Regional Police Public Relations Officer (CEO), DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the story to DAILY GUIDE, hinted that about two months ago, Kwadwo Solomon and Abaji Tetteh stole two Toyota Urvan buses, popularly known as Fish, from Somanya and sold them at GH¢3,000 each to Latif at Ashaiman.

He noted that “Latif bought the stolen vehicles from Abadji and Kojo Solomon and resold one of them to Francis Sam, a driver at Wejia, for GH¢10,000.”

He added that the Police apprehended Sam and retrieved one of the stolen vehicles from a spraying shop at SCC belonging to one Nyamekye.

DSP Tetteh hinted that during police interrogations, Francis Sam confirmed that Latif sold one of the cars to him.

The Regional Police Spokesman said that the suspects have been charged with stealing and conspiracy to commit crime and would be arraigned before the Odumase Circuit Court after investigations.
