Renowned Ghanaian Chef, Chef Abbys, has joined the growing number of people complaining about the high cost of living in Accra in recent times.

In a post on X, Chef Abbys wrote, “Eish Chale Accra prices are finishing me (sad emoji).”

Ghanaian content creators frequently state that Accra is expensive due to high rent, costly lifestyle upkeep for social media, and steep daily living expenses compared to other cities like Kumasi.

Public figures and TikTokers report spending anywhere from GH¢500 to GH¢5,000 daily on food, fuel, and lifestyle maintenance depending on their scale of activity.

Food content creator, Afua Nash, has also opened up on the high cost of living in Accra, revealing that she spends around GH¢5,000 a day to maintain her lifestyle, saying,””It is very expensive to live in Accra.”

She disclosed that her most expensive dress cost GH¢5,400, and her most expensive wig was GH¢ 12,000, while indicating that “on a normal day, GH¢5,000 is fine, sometimes I spend more.”

“It covers everything including feeding, fuel, call credit, internet data, and outfit for the day,” she stated.

Afua Nash added that on days she doesn’t drive, she books rides throughout the day, sometimes spending up to GH¢1,800 just on transportation.
