Chief Laments Bad Roads In Bimbagu South

The Chief of the Bimbagu Traditional Area, Chief Ubor Sigom Daniel Tibila, has lamented the bad nature of the road network in his traditional area.

According to the chief, farmers in the area have recorded post harvest losses due to the bad nature of roads.

He indicated that the biggest market in the Northern sector is located at Gbintiri in the North East region but farmers in these areas are poor because their road network is not motorable to transport their farm produce to the market.

“Our farmers and women find it difficult to send their farm produce to the market due to the bad road network in this area and because of that our farm produce is left on the farms to rot”.

“ We all know that every Konkomba person is a farmer and farming is our livelihood so we have no option than farming and the only alternative route to the Gbintiri market is through Nakpanduri and that particular route is also very bad especially during raining season”.

Chief of the Bimbagu Traditional Area, stated that the government has abandoned Komkombas in the Northern sector and called on the authorities come to their aid and provide them with access road networks to help enhance their farming activities and improve their livelihoods.

Chief Ubor Sigom Daniel Tibila made this known during the Bimbagu Traditional Area Celebration of the Ndipodaan Festival.

A youth leader of the Bimbagu South community, Liwaal Mark Mumuni, said the community does not have a health Centre that sick persons would have to travel miles to get access to medical attention, and that the bad road network has compounded their problems.

“We have had women record miscarriages on their way to the hospital due to the bad road in this area and so this situation needs serious attention”.

The District Chief Executives (DCE) for Bunkpurgu-Nakpanduri, Joseph Louknaan, assured the Konkomba communities and the district as a whole that they are working tirelessly to ensure that major road networks are fixed to enhance agriculture in the district.

According to him, the Department of Feeder Road in the North East region office has been deliberately sited in Bunkpurugu to ensure that their road network challenges are solved.

“We already have list of major roads to be worked on in this district and that is why the chiefs in this area allocated land for the establishment of the Department of Feeder Road office here so they would have to only work hard to ensure that these major roads listed are worked on”.
