Chinese-Ghanaian Citizens Support Prison Inmates

Mr Sea Flanked With His Team Presenting The Item To One Of The Officers At Koforidua Prisons

UNITED GHANA, a Ghana and China based organisation has donated relief items and foodstuffs to the Ghana Prisons Service, Koforidua branch and an orphanage in the Eastern Region.

The items included; bags of rice, drugs, used clothes, boxes of detergents, cooking oil, assorted drinks, and bags of maize, toiletries, and foodstuffs among others.

They were donated to support Koforidua Prison inmates and also orphans at Hour of Grace Children’s Home at Huhunya in Upper Manya Krobo District.

The President of the United Ghana Organisation, Selorm Amedorme, aka ‘Mr. Sea’, after the presentation told DAILY GUIDE that, the donation was necessitated following a visit he made to the Security Prisons across the country last year to conduct a brief quantitative study on epidemiology and armed robbery.

According to him, Ghanaians who traveled to China are sometimes maltreated by the Chinese due to that, they have formed the organisation to help Ghanaians living in China and also support the inmates and orphans who are handicapped in Ghana.

‘Mr. Sea’ said the role of the Ghana Prisons Service in transforming the lifestyle of inmates cannot be overemphasized.

He added that, though some of the inmates entered the prisons without any trade, profession or educational background, the Service had been very instrumental in adding value to their lives with some contributing immensely to national development after their release.

Mr. Laryea promised that he would mobilise more materials and other items that would be of good use to the Prisons Service, orphans and even patients at hospitals across the country.

At the two separate short ceremonies, the receivers of the items on behalf of the Director of Prisons and the Orphanage thanked Mr. Amedorme and his team for the immense support.
