Cop Commits Suicide

Sgt Fuseini Mohamuda

Sergeant Fuseini Mohammed of the Marine Police has reportedly committed suicide at Effasu, near Half Assini in the Jomoro District of the Western Region.

The incident, DAILY GUIDE gathered, occurred on Sunday, March 24, 2019.

Sgt. Mohammed of the Marine Police at Anyinase in the Ellembelle District allegedly shot himself with an AK47 rifle after he asked his colleague to buy a shaving blade for him.

He was found in a supine position in a pool of blood with the rifle he used beside his legs.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the morgue of the Police Hospital in Accra, pending autopsy.

The police debunked media reports that Sgt. Mohammed was part of police officers, who had been accused of stealing equipment from the Osagyefo Barge.

But the deceased allegedly left a short note that read “I can’t take this disgrace, something I don’t know about.”

He also wrote the mobile phone numbers of his wife, one Hajia and another person Bianka.

DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), told DAILY GUIDE that the note allegedly written by the deceased had nothing to do with the theft of equipment which occurred recently at the Osagyefo Barge.

She pointed out that the police were investigating the circumstances under which he shot himself.

According to her, a crime scene management team from Sekondi, as well as teams from Half Assini and Marine Police from Takoradi, visited the scene and found the body in a supine position in a pool of blood.

She indicated that after inspection and taking of photographs by the crime scene experts, the body was removed and transported to the Police Hospital morgue in Accra, pending autopsy.

She, however, pointed out that two police officers, who were accused of stealing electrical gadgets at the Osagyefo Barge, had been interdicted.

The two police officers were deployed to protect the facility but purportedly ended up illegally selling some equipment.
