Coronavirus: We’ve Not Ruled Out Evacuating Ghanaians From Hubei

President Nana Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has assured parents of Ghanaian students in China that his administration has not ruled out the need to evacuate them over the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

According to him, government is putting in place to evacuate the Ghanaian students in Hubei Province, China, one of the epicenters of the deadly Coronavirus.

He explained that the Ghanaian embassy in China has given each Ghanaian student there an amount of $500 so far.

That, notwithstanding, he said efforts were still being made to address the needs of the students.

He therefore cautioned politicians from the other side of the political divide from politicizing a health issue of this kind.

It would be recalled that the Minority National Democratic Congress in Parliament recently called for the evacuation of Ghanaian students in China.

But President Akufo-Addo entreated Parliament to support the cause instead of spreading fear and trouble over the matter.

He sympathized with the people of China as they go through trying times with the coronavirus.

“We sympathize with the people of China in this time of trouble,” the Ghanaian leader stated.
