COSUA Salutes Nyantakyi

Kwesi Nyantakyi

The Ghana chapter of the Coalition of Supporters’ Unions of Africa (COSUA Ghana) has expressed its gratitude to former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, for saving Ghanaians the trouble of having to find non-existent funds to travel to a foreign country to watch and support the Black Stars in their crucial World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

In a letter addressed to Nyantakyi, and signed by the President of COSUA Ghana, Dr. Ken Aryeetey, the organisation notes with “deep gratitude, your exemplary sense of patriotism as demonstrated in joining the last-minute efforts Ghana was making to avoid a possible FIFA ban to prevent Ghana from playing the match on home soil, when the Cape Coast Stadium was found to be unsuitable after hosting the recent Independence Anniversary celebrations there.”

The letter appreciated the efforts Nyantakyi is known to have made in getting Nigeria to accept to play the game at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, and getting both CAF and FIFA to agree to same.

“By your timely intervention, you saved Ghanaians and the Black Stars millions of dollars in transportation costs to Morocco, and you have greatly increased Ghana’s chances to qualify for the World Cup,” the statement concluded.

In a follow-up interview with DAILY GUIDE SPORTS, the President of COSUA Global, Sarfo Abebrese extended an invitation to Nyantakyi to join him and the 5,000 members of COSUA Ghana, who have secured tickets, to throng the stadium to support the Black Stars.

“I will be pressing upon my brother Nyantakyi to consider joining the fans at the other end of the stadium, and join the fans to cheer the players on with the brass bands, and I hope he will join us for the games, both in Kumasi and Abuja,” Abebrese disclosed.
