Dauda Ibrahim Bamba, Kassim Siaka

TWO ASPIRANTS out of the twenty-nine persons who picked and filed forms to contest for positions in the Bono Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) executive members’ election have been disqualified by the regional executive election committee headed by Kwame Oppong.

Alhaji Issaka Siaka and Anthony Yeboah, who aspired for treasurer positions, were disqualified. No reasons were adduced for their disqualification by the committee.

The third person for the youth organiser position, Dauda Ibrahim Bamba, voluntarily withdrew from the race after vetting.

This means twenty-six persons, including Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC, the incumbent regional chairman and his only challenger, Rasheed Konlaabig, will battle it for the chairmanship position.

Ten positions are therefore up for grabs in the upcoming regional executive election slated for May 29, 2022 at the Pastoral Centre in Sunyani.

Speaking to the media after the vetting, the chairman of the committee, Kwame Oppong, explained that those who were disqualified were asked to submit a petition if they have any grievances against the decision.

He explained further that the vetting process was smooth without any hitches, and thanked the committee members and aspirants for their cordiality.

Aspirants who have been cleared to contest the ten positions are; chairman, Kwame Baffoe and Rasheed Konlaabig, first vice chair, Joseph Mensah, Nana Attah Fena, Kwadwo Agyekum and Prince Kofi Nchira.

The rest are second vice, Henry Oppong, Kate Nana Yaa Amponsah, secretary, Kofi Ofosu Boateng, Franklin Osei-Antwi and  Ebenezer Asare  Baffour, organiser, Evans Afari, Gyan Yeboah and Boampong Darlinton Bill and Bashiru Hassan Adams.

Women organiser, Doris Asamoah and Dorithy Ama Amponsah, youth organiser, Shadrack Abrefa Mensah and Abdul Razack Oppong.

Nasara coordinator, Alhaji Bashiru Wahab, and Alhaji Osman Faisal will face it off on the D-day.

The chairman advised on a clean campaign devoid of personal attacks, so as to unify the party after the election.

He also maintained that by the rules of national executive committee, the party will provide security from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Army, so no individual aspirant is allowed to provide his or her own security.
