The president cutting the sod at the function
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commanded the Ghana Police Service, especially in the Brong Ahafo Region, to deal with troublemakers without fear or favour.
Not mincing words, the President described the continuous violence in the area, especially Sankore and Kukuom, as barbaric and primitive and not good for modern day civilization. He therefore urged the police to lawfully deal with anybody who foments trouble in the area without partisan considerations.
The President said this when he interacted with the chiefs and people of Asunafo South District at Kukuom on the second day of his three days working visit to the Brong Ahafo Region. Speaking in Akan language, the President said, “I cannot understand why as a result of politics, they are killing and maiming their fellowmen. In this modern world, this is not the time to be engaging in senseless violence. Crime has no colour, and the law should be no respecter of person or persons”.
He later commissioned a district health directorate building for Asunafo South and cut the sod for the construction of district assembly hall complex.
The president of Kukuom Traditional Council, Osahene Kwaku Aterkyi ll said he and his people appreciate the good policies and programs introduced by the government especially the Free SHS, the Planting For Food and Jobs among others.
He appealed to the government to repair the bridge on Asumura road that has cut the people off from economic activities because they cannot send foodstuff to the market centres.
The President later inspected the bridge and road and promised to construct the road and build a new bridge.
Earlier the President Akufo-Addo interacted with the chiefs and people of the Ahafo area on the creation of the new regions.
The president of Ahafo Council of Chiefs who is also the Omanhene of Yanfo Traditional Area, Nana Yaw Adu Baah Ansah II, speaking on behalf his colleagues, thanked the President for the good policies and programme he has introduced saying they have realized that he has the country at heart. He, however, asked the government to provide them with motorable roads, buses for SHS schools in the area and dormitories for nursing colleges.
Replying, President Nana Addo said his government has already earmarked one hundred million Ghana cedis for construction of roads in the area.
