Decongestion Exercise In Ayawaso East

The Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly has embarked upon a decongestion exercise in the municipality.

The decongestion exercise is aimed at easing vehicular congestion and giving convenience of movement to pedestrians. It covers the main street from around the market to the major drainage system in the municipality.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Nii Armah Ashitey, said the exercise would also rid the principal street of traders. He added that “this exercise should have taken place last year but was put on hold because of the Yuletide. We always receive complaints about congestion in the area.”

He debunked claims by some traders that there was no space in the market hence their selling in the streets and pavements.

The Divisional Police Commander Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aquaye, when speaking to the media said “though it’s not within our mandate to spearhead a decongestion exercise, we are only providing security to enable the stakeholders to go about their lawful activities smoothly without any fear or intimidation.”
