Defections Rock Bimbilla NDC

Over a hundred members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Gundo and Bincheratanga Electoral Areas in the Bimbilla Constituency of the Northern Region have defected to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) citing failed promises, neglect and the culture of being used and dumped over the years, including the collapse in their farming activities as well as lack of ready market for their farm produce.

The Gundo and Bincheretanga Electoral Areas have been strongholds of the NDC since 1996, but the level of development those communities have received over the years during the tenure of NDC governments have been underwhelming, hence their defection to the NPP.

The defectors were welcomed into the NPP by Alhaji Abdulai Yakubu, who is the Bimbilla Constituency Chairman of the NPP, and his executives at a ceremony in those communities.

Alhaji Yakubu thanked them for taking the bold decision to join the party, saying that the NPP was the best for the people.

Spokesperson for the defectees, Likpajaal Oyinbidaa, told the Voiceless Media in an interview that they left the NDC for good and will never ever return to the party that has taken them for granted for 30 years.

He stated that the impact of their defection shall reflect in votes in favour of the NPP in those electoral areas in 2028.

On his part, Balikankiya Bijoma, Communications Officer of the NPP in the Gundo Electoral Area, told the Voiceless Media that he was going to team up with the new defectees to work to recruit more NDC members into the NPP.

He indicated that they were going to work hard to collapse the NDC in the Gundo Electoral Area.
