The suspected thief in hospital

 

A 25-YEAR-old suspected thief has been hospitalised after he was shot in the knee whilst, allegedly, trying to steal diesel in gallons at a fitting shop in Mpasatia, Ashanti Region.

Suspect Kofi Moses, was reportedly caught in the act of syphoning diesel from huge storage drums into small gallons in the Amado Village Fitting Shop around 5 a.m. on March 15, 2026.

A security man at the fitting shop, one Abdul-Mumin Iddrisu, who spotted Moses, shot him in his left knee with a single barrel gun, to prevent him from escaping.

The security man, with the assistance of Haruna Salifu aka ‘Chairman Kutu’, later hauled the injured suspect to the police station. The suspect was then taken to the hospital for treatment.

Nkawie District Police report said, “On15/03/26 at about 0700hrs, Abdul-Mumin Iddrisu, a security man at Amado, a suburb of Mpasatia, accompanied by Haruna Salifu aka ‘Chairman Kutu’, arrested and brought suspect Kofi Moses, aged 25 years, to the station with a gunshot wound on his left knee.

“The former reported that same day at about 0500hrs, whilst he was on duty as a security man at Amado Village Fitting Shop, where diesel is kept in drums for safekeeping, the suspect came to the shop with red and yellow gallons and was syphoning the diesel from the drums, as a result he shot his left knee with a single barrel gun.”

According to the statement, the police together with complainant, rushed suspect Kofi Moses to Nkawie/Toase Government Hospital for treatment, where he was admitted.

“Police further proceeded to the scene of crime where red and yellow gallons, one used BB cartridge and drums filled with diesel were seen,” the police statement indicated.

Investigation, the police said, “was extended to the security man’s room and the locally manufactured single barrel gun was retrieved with one live BB cartridge.”
