Dismissed Cop Arrested For Impersonation

Dismissed Frank Arnold Otchere, formerly of the Millennium City Police Command, has been arrested for alleged impersonation.

The sacked officer, who was with service number 52217 is said to have sent two persons he arrested over an undisclosed issue to the Weija Divisional Police Command during which it came out that he had imposed as a serving officer.

According to information available to DAILY GUIDE Newspaper, Otchere arrested two people and allegedly collected GH¢10,000.00 from one of them, sending both individuals to the Weija Division in an attempt to cause the detention of one of them.

He is said to have mentioned Ajumako as the unit he is stationed. Information further had it that Otchere upon interrogation at a point indicated that he is with the Millennium City Police, also claiming differently he is a Constable, Pending Lance Corporal.

It was further revealed that, an inspector’s lineyard, police uniforms, and a pistol were allegedly found with him upon a search.

Weija Divisional Command

Speaking to this paper with hesitation in an exclusive interview (though with hesitation due to the inconclusive nature of the case), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Laar Baman, Weija Divisional Police Commander confirmed the story and added that, it was due diligence on his part that unearthed the hidden deeds of the sacked personnel.

He said he put him to thorough interrogation when Otchere’s conduct sparked suspicion in his mind, resulting in the revelations.

He however added that the case is under investigation and as soon as his command gets hold of a copy of the dismissal letter, the culprit would be charged and arraigned. He is however currently on bail to re-appear for further investigations.

Authenticity of Dismissal

 Daily Guide has sighted a copy of the dismissal letter dated October 6th, 2018 and titled “REVIEW OF SERVICE ENQUIRY PROCEEDINGS BY THE CENTRAL DISCIPLINARY BOARD – NO 52217 G/CONST. FRANK ARNOLD OKERE”, communicating his dismissal pursuant to Police Regulations, 2012 (CI76).

Same letter was signed by the then Deputy IGP, James Oppong-Boanuh, COP George Akuffo COP Christian Tetteh Yorhuno, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye and COP Beatrice Zakpaa Vib-Sanziri.

Millennium City Command

DSP Benjamin Samani, Millennium City Commander confirmed the dismissal of the culprit and added that the Service is a noble institution with credible men of integrity, so they would not in any case countenance illegality and misdeed.

He further advised junior officers to uphold the principles of truth, fairness, integrity, professionalism and selfless dedication to duty.
