The suspects
THE EASTERN Regional Police Command have arrested a dismissed Police Officer, Eric Agyei alias Kuma, 48, with two others who allegedly robbed a carpenter in the Anlo Town, a suburb of Koforidua.
The former police officer who was dismissed in 2012 and his accomplices Samuel Appiah, a 35-year-old wood carver, and Mutakilu Sadiq, 41, driver, dressed in police and military uniforms and embarked on a series of robbery operations.
They were able, in their many operations, to rob GH¢9,800 and two mobile phones worth GH¢410 from a certain Monya Frank.
They also robbed a banker on the day the carpenter went to withdraw GH¢8,500 from the Upper Manya Krobo Rural Bank-Koforidua branch as he returned home.
The carpenter was pulled off the tricycle on which he was riding and handcuffed by the suspects after telling him he was a robbery suspect and was wanted by the Police. It was during that act that he was dispossessed of the money and mobile phones and stripped naked.
A taxi driver spotted him abandoned on the Koforidua-Bunso road and assisted him to go and lodge a complaint at the Bunso Police Station.
A tipoff led to their arrests and during an identification parade one of them was identified as a dismissed police officer.
