The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has urged the public to disregard any statement or news  suggesting the announcement of a new producer price of cocoa for the 2005/2006 crop season.
“The public is advised to disregard any statement or news suggesting a decision or announcement on the producer price of cocoa,” a press release issued by the Board said.
The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), earlier has hinted of maintaining the producer price of cocoa for the 2025/2026 crop season.
Acting Chief Executive in charge of operations at COCOBOD, James Kofi Kutsoati, in a letter dated April 8, 2025 to the Licensed Cocoa Buyers’ Association of Ghana (LICOBAG) said the decision, “stems from a thorough assessment of the operational and financial implications for the local cocoa industry”.
It said the decision is also aimed at preserving stability and long-term sustainability within the cocoa sector.
While COCOBOD acknowledged Côte d’Ivoire’s increased price, it hinted of potential review of fees and margins for stakeholders in the 2025/26 crop season.
However, in the  release, (COCOBOD) outlined reasons for the disregard of the information stating that such a decision has not been taken since the Board of Directors are not in place.
It stated, “There is currently no Board of Directors in place, meaning there is no authority to make or approve such a crucial decision”.
It further stated that the Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC), which is responsible for reviewing and recommending the producer price, has not yet been convened or informed.
Therefore, it noted that for the above reasons no announcement has been made regarding the producer price of cocoa.
“In view of the aforementioned reasons, there is no way such an announcement can be made,” it stated.
