Doctors Whip Lawyers

The GMA team

THE GHANA Medical Association (GMA,) the Ashanti Regional branch, came from behind to beat the Ghana Bar Association, Ashanti Regional Branch, 3-1 in an X’mas football game, played at the Ridge Park in Kumasi.

Prior to the game, the lawyers, who are noted for talking, apparently due to their noble profession, bragged that they would teach the doctors football lessons but that was not to be as they (lawyers) were rather humiliated in the end.

The lawyers started the game with full vigor as they opened fire on their opponents, and their efforts was eventually rewarded as they snatched the lead to the chagrin of the doctors, who looked dull at the initial stages of the game.

But after deservedly taking the lead, the lawyers surprisingly lost control of the game as the doctors, who looked energized, dominated proceedings and scored three quick goals to carry the day to earn bragging rights over the lawyers.

Instead of accepting the fact that they lost to a better side, the Ashanti Regional GBA President, Francis Koffie, after the game, accused the doctors of taking steroids which helped them to win the contest.

The accomplished lawyer was hooted by the doctors and people present for making that wild allegation without supporting it with any concrete evidence, but he maintained that the doctors won unjustifiably.

Dr. Sarfo Kantanka, the Ashanti Regional President of the GMA, on his part, said the doctors will prepare fully and repeat the dose on the lawyers when the two teams meet again on March 4, this year.

DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, who is also a lawyer, was the guest of honour during the game.
