‘Don’t Compare NDC To Biden’

Razak Opoku

The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) hope that the Joe Biden win in the United States could be translated into a John Mahama and NDC triumph in Ghana has been shot down by the Concerned Voters Movement (CVM).

Shooting down what he described as impossible, the President/Founder of the CVM, Razak Poku, said in a release yesterday that the NDC was trying to compare itself to the US Democrats when in fact they had a sordid record that Ghanaians were fully aware of.

“The American political situation is diametrically different from what prevails in Ghana and so to seek solace from the outcome of that country’s election, is to engage in a futile exercise,” Mr. Poku said.

The CVM’s stance ties in with an earlier one from the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, which dismissed the efforts by some persons to link the American elections to Ghana’s.

Following the Joe Biden’s triumph, Mr. Mahama has in a congratulatory message expressed the hope to work with Joe Biden next year, a hope which many including the CVM describe as ‘warped’ analysis.

“The similarity in the gender choice of a running mate in the US and by the NDC appears to have provided an impetus for the opposition party’s misplaced hope,” the CVM has indicated.

“Mr. Mahama should be advised that elections and democracy in the US never started in 1992 and so there was no way Ghana could share a political destiny with that country,” the CVM President said in the release.

He said Joe Biden and the Democrats did not sell Okada and mortuary policies to American voters but provided serious and better alternative to get the mandate.

“The NDC should stop the baseless reliance on unfounded superstitious beliefs that the victory of Biden is an automatic victory for them,” adding “for the avoidance of doubt there are big differences between the Incompetent John Mahama and Joe Biden, likewise their respective female running mates,” he said.

The CVM leader said the outstanding achievements of President Akufo-Addo and the NPP in various spheres of national life gave special advantages over his rival whose negative baggage were pulling him down.

The people of Dagbon, he observed, would continue to be impressed with the performance of President Akufo-Addo, as would be the beneficiaries of the newly created regions.

The achievements are many suffice it to point out the free SHS, the completion of 204 housing units at Tema Community 22, the revamping of the Railway Infrastructure and the ongoing upgrading of bad roads in various parts of the country.

“Mr. Mahama and the NDC can continue to rely on superstition, 2020 is about track record, leadership and achievements,” the CVM added.

“It is important for Mr. Mahama to understand that he does not share the same destiny with Joe Biden and should spare us the unnecessary analogy,” he said.
