‘Don’t Sell Your Votes’

Archbishop Prince Hampel

The founder and President of Liberty Global Church, Archbishop Prince Hampel, has called on Ghanaians to desist from selling their destiny in exchange for peanuts during elections and to shun politicians who are violent-inclined.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the living Faith Theological Seminary in Takoradi in the Western Region, he admonished Ghanaians who had the habit of selling their thumb to desist from that as such practices led to the election of corrupt leaders who ended up messing the economy and putting the lives of all Ghanaians and the future generations in jeopardy due to bad decisions.

Archbishop Hampel, who has churches dotted around the world and a seasonal man of the gospel domiciled in the United Kingdom, said elections meant a lot and had serious consequences on the nation and that was why it was extremely important that Ghanaian voters chose their leaders prayerfully, wisely and also based on competence and dedication and not the mere desire to be President.

He stressed, “For four years your choice of a bad or good leader will hang on your necks till you have the opportunity again to maintain or change a leader. Elections have consequences good or bad and that is why we have to think deeply and prayerfully in deciding who to vote for.”

He indicated that any politician who approached you with money in return for your vote was corrupt and a thief who wanted to steal your power.

He said that the most powerful people in Ghana and in all democracies were the voters and not the leaders. He quizzed “why do you think they criss cross the length and breadth of Ghana to come seek your vote? Why do you think they go extra lengths to court your support and votes? It is because you are the king makers.”

“I think that this particular election should be a very decisive one, whoever wins must win convincingly because we have had the benefit of living under the leadership of the two contestants and so deciding who you prefer to be in charge should not be a difficult decision,” he indicated.
