Former President John Agyekum Kufour has appealed to members and sympathizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region not to vote ‘skirt and blouse’ during the December 7 elections.

Addressing a mammoth rally at the campaign launch of Nana Ama Dokua, the NPP parliamentary candidate of Akropong, the ex-President Kufour said constituents would do themselves a great disservice if they fail to vote massively for their son, Nana Akufo-Addo, NPP’s flagbearer as President and Nana Yaa Dokua as Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, as well as other NPP parliamentary candidates in the country.

Akuapem North Constituency is one of the strongholds of the largest opposition party in the Eastern Region, but in the past few months, both the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the NPP, have suspended their members for supporting independent parliamentary candidates.

Ex-President Kufour further urged the electorate to vote for NPP to bring development to the area.

“Someone has drawn the map of Ghana indicating with pictures that since independence all regions except the Eastern Region has produced presidents of Ghana. This is the year for Akropong, Okuapeman and the Eastern Region to push to the highest office of the land your son who has offered himself to the service of Ghana. If you fail to support him, then you’ll have yourself to blame. Be firm in your minds, and don’t allow anyone to deceive you to vote ‘skirt and blouse’ in this constituency. Vote for Nana Akufo-Addo as president and Nana Dokua as your Member of Parliament,” he indicated.

Nana Ama Dokua, on her part, said the NPP has worked tirelessly to draw up a fully integrated plan to industrialize the country.

She indicated that the next NPP government would fully restore the allowances of teacher and nursing trainees in the first quarter to enable the students of Akropong Presby College of Education to freely study hard.

My outfit would ensure the refurbishment of Mampong Hospital, the Cocoa Tourist Center at Mampong needs to be functional, Larteh needs a vocational center, Kwamoso Palm Plantation needs to be fixed, she added.

She, however, urged the constituents to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo to implement the “one district, one factory policy to reduce unemployment in the country.
