CAGED! Nana Kyei Emmanuel
A 24-year-old driver, Nana Kyei Emmanuel, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Bekwai Circuit Court for stabbing and robbing a 22-year-old woman at Esereso in the Ashanti Region.
The convict was found guilty on two counts of causing harm and robbery following a full trial presided over by His Honour Isaac Apietu.
The prosecution, led by Detective Chief Inspector Eric Okyere, told the court that the victim, Beatrice Achiaa Agyemang, was attacked at about 2:00 a.m. on June 14, 2026.
According to the facts, the victim, who had complained of stomach pains, had gone to a nearby pharmacy to purchase medication.
On her way home, and upon reaching an area around the Esereso Roman Catholic Church, Nana Kyei Emmanuel allegedly emerged from behind a metal container wielding a knife.
He reportedly stabbed her in the left side of her ribs before forcibly taking her iPhone 11 Pro Max, valued at GH¢2,600, and fleeing the scene.
The victim subsequently reported the incident to the Feyiase Police, who commenced investigations and activated measures to trace the stolen phone.
The police later contacted the phone using another number, and the convict answered the call. He allegedly directed the victim to meet him at Atonsu Kuwait, claiming he would return the phone.
However, the prosecution said the convict demanded sexual intercourse as a condition for returning the device.
Police officers accompanied the victim to the location, where Nana Kyei Emmanuel was apprehended.
A search conducted on him led to the recovery of the victim’s iPhone and a knife suspected to have been used in the attack.
He was subsequently charged and put before the Bekwai Circuit Court.
After the trial, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to 15 years’ imprisonment.
