Dumelo Wins Ayawaso West Wuogon

Actor John Dumelo has clinched victory in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency parliamentary race, defeating incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Lydia Seyram Alhassan, in the 2024 general election.

Representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dumelo garnered 40,561 votes, surpassing Madam Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), who secured 27,377 votes.

The election, held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, marked a significant turnaround for John, who previously contested and lost the seat in 2020.

John Dumelo’s win is considered a major political milestone, reflecting growing support for his campaign to address issues and to champion development in the constituency.

John Dumelo first rose to fame as an actor, beginning his career in 1991 as a child star.

Over the years, he has become a household name, featuring in numerous films in both the Ghanaian and Nigerian (Nollywood) movie industries.

Beyond acting, he has built a reputation as an entrepreneur and philanthropist.

In his victory speech, Dumelo expressed gratitude to his supporters, pledging to deliver on his promises and work tirelessly for the progress of Ayawaso West Wuogon.
