DVLA Official Wins Top Procurement Award

DEPUTY DIRECTOR for Procurement at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Dr. Robert Kweku Tay, has been named among Africa’s top 20 procurement leaders in the procurement and supply chain industry at the 3rd edition of the Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Awards.

He also received two other awards on behalf of DVLA namely, Excellence in Procurement & Supply Chain (State Owned Enterprises), Silver; and the Best Public Sector Project of the Year (smart driver licence card in-house production).

The ceremony, held Friday at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, saw a host of organisations and prominent individuals across Africa awarded for excellence and dexterity in the procurement and supply chain industry in and outside their respective countries.

Dr. Robert Tay and the DVLA took home a total of three awards on the night, which brings to 31, the number of awards chalked by the Authority in a space of just three years.

With over 19 years of expertise in procurement and supply chain management in both the private and public sector, Dr. Robert Kweku Tay led his team to win the Emerging Improvement in Procurement and Supply Chain Management for the DVLA at the maiden edition of the Ghana Procurement and Supply Chain Awards held in 2018.

He was awarded the prestigious Ghana Procurement and Supply Chain Top 20 Leaders award in 2018 and 2019.

He also won for the DVLA Excellence in Public Procurement, Silver Award and Innovative Use of Technology in Public Procurement, Bronze Award in 2019.

Dr. Tay holds a Doctor of Business Administration from the CASS European Institute of Management Studies, Luxembourg in France; a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management from Coventry University, UK; and a Post Graduate Diploma in Procurement and Materials Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT-UK) and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS-UK).

Dr. Tay is also a full member of the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply (GIPS-Ghana) and the Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management, Ghana (MCISM-Ghana).
