EC Rejects IPP’s Filing Fees

Charlotte Osei, EC Boss

The Electoral Commission has rejected the parliamentary filing fees of the Independent People’s Party (IPP), Starr News’ Wilberforce Asare has reported from the EC headquarters.

The money was rejected because the party chose to present bulk cash instead of a banker’s draft as advised by the commission. It, however, presented a banker’s draft for the Presidential fee.

Flagbearer of the party Kofi Akpaloo is livid over the development and is threatening to sue the electoral management body.

Meanwhile, Starr News can now confirm that the CPP has presented its banker’s draft after initial hitches.

So far, 15 out of the 17 parties that filed their nominations including the NDC and the NPP have paid the fees.

The EC has warned it will not accept any payment after 12.00 noon.

The Commission is expected to begin the vetting of the forms to determine who is credible to contest for the presidency on December 7.
