Ejisu MP Denies Bail, Surety Claim

Kwabena Owusu Aduomi

The MP for Ejisu, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who is also Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, has denied that he requested bail and stood surety for one Nana Osei Bonsu in a court case.

He said, the said Nana Osei Bonsu, had never been an aide in his office as being claimed, saying in a rebuttal to DAILY GUIDE through his lawyers that “the records are there at the Ejisu Divisional Police Station for confirmation or refutation.”

Setting the records straight through his solicitors, the MP said “although a card bearing member of the New Patriotic Party in the Ejisu Constituency, he is not and has never been an aide to our client. Again, our client has not and will never order any officer or institution to grant bail to anyone let alone stand as a surety for anyone.”

The lawyers said on behalf of the MP that “our client has never been part of any plot or scheme to destroy the image or reputation of anyone including John Kumah.”

Nana Bonsu also said he was neither charged nor granted bail in the case that hit the media recently.

“I am not standing trial in any court for forging anybody’s signature or document, as the publication sought to portray, something, which in any case, I will never do,” he said.

Explaining the issues, he said “there was this message forwarded to me, containing a list of people, said to have benefited from NEIP financial support and I found my name right in there.

Naturally, it should not be unexpected that I will ask questions, especially, when I have not applied or received any money from the programme and I did just that.”

He said, “I have nothing against, Mr. John Kuma, the Chief Executive Officer of the NEIP, who is in the race for the Ejisu Constituency parliamentary ticket of the New Patriotic Party. I must, however, say that I am not a fan of his.

“Yes, I was in court, on Monday, April 20 to answer a charge of publishing fake news and I pleaded not guilty.

“I find this “makeup” accusation of forgery, which was not on the charge sheet, read in open court, rather strange and baffling,” he said.

He also added that the sitting MP did not stand surety for him.
