Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, has celebrated Mother’s Day with women at the maternity wards of the Ga East Municipal Hospital and Taifa Polyclinic by distributing hampers and cash donations to support them.

The gesture formed part of her annual outreach programme aimed at appreciating mothers, especially women who had just delivered babies at the two health facilities.

The atmosphere at the sick bay and maternity wards was filled with excitement and appreciation as the MP interacted warmly with the mothers, congratulated them on the safe delivery of their babies, and presented them with assorted hampers containing baby items and other essentials, alongside an undisclosed amount of cash.

Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Akurugu described motherhood as a priceless gift that must always be celebrated and supported.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all our wonderful mothers and especially to the brave mothers who have just welcomed new babies into the world. Today, as we share these hampers, we celebrate your strength, love, sacrifice, and the priceless gift of motherhood,” she said.

She further prayed for God’s blessings upon the mothers and their newborn babies.

“May God bless you and your little ones with good health, joy, and endless happiness. Congratulations once again, and enjoy your special day,” she added.

According to the Dome-Kwabenya MP, mothers continue to play a critical role in shaping families and society, stressing the need for continuous support and care for women, particularly nursing mothers.

Health workers at both facilities commended the lawmaker for the thoughtful gesture, noting that the visit brought smiles and encouragement to the mothers.

One of the beneficiaries, a nursing mother at the Ga East Municipal Hospital, expressed gratitude to the MP for remembering them on such a special occasion.

“We are very happy today. We didn’t expect this surprise at all. God bless Madam Akurugu for coming here to celebrate us and support us,” she said.

Another mother at Taifa Polyclinic also praised the MP for her kindness and commitment towards women and children in the constituency.
