EMPIRE Did Their Best For Me – Yaw Tog

Rapper, Yaw Tog, has said that his former label, EMPIRE, did its best to support his career during their working relationship.

Speaking on the D&A podcast, the “Sore” hitmaker reflected on his time with the label, admitting that although he would accept the deal again, he would approach it differently by ensuring legal representation during the signing process.

“With Empire, I would say yes, but with my lawyer. My lawyer wasn’t present when I was signing. I think Empire did the best for me…They gave me the limelight,” he said.

Yaw Tog praised EMPIRE for its structured system, explaining that it helps artists promote and distribute their music efficiently. According to him, the label’s framework made it easier for his projects to gain attention.

However, now working independently, the rapper noted that he has had to build similar systems on his own to sustain his career.

“They have the system—if you want to drop, they take your project, put it in the system, and the system will do the work for you. But now that I am independent, I need to build my system and make it work for me,” he stated.

He added that while artistes benefit from EMPIRE’s support system when signed, the situation changes once they leave and must manage their careers independently.
