Engineers To Shape Ghana’s Policy Direction – Bawumia

Former Vice President and 2028 presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to incorporate the expertise and ideas of engineers, scientists, technologists and other professionals into policies aimed at addressing the country’s development challenges.

He said professionals would play a critical role in shaping practical and innovative solutions to some of the country’s longstanding problems, particularly in urban transport, infrastructure development, public procurement and value for money.

Dr. Bawumia made the commitment after engaging with the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) as part of his ongoing consultations with identifiable groups on national development.

According to him, the meeting with the engineering body provided an opportunity for his policy team to exchange ideas with professionals on ways to develop innovative solutions to the nation’s challenges.

He stressed that no country could achieve meaningful development without drawing on the expertise of its engineers, scientists, technologists and other professionals.

“No nation can develop without the valuable input of engineers, scientists, technologists and other professionals and we are determined to make sure we factor in their inputs as we put together policies to solve many of Ghana’s problems,” Dr. Bawumia stated.

He said the discussions focused on finding practical approaches to challenges confronting the country, including urban transport, infrastructure, public procurement and ensuring value for money in government expenditure.

The former Vice President expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the GhIE for making time to engage with his policy team and share their expertise.

He specifically thanked the President of the Institution, the President-Elect, the Vice-President and other members who participated in the meeting.

Dr. Bawumia said his team was committed to drawing on such expertise as it develops policies intended to provide sustainable solutions to the country’s development problems.
