Eno Barony
Two Ghanaian acts have won awards at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) held in Dallas, Texas, on September 12, 2026.
Eno Barony won Best Female Rap Act, while twin duo DopeNation won Best African Group. The awards returned this year after a two-year hiatus, with over 100 artistes from more than 40 African countries honoured across 41 categories.
The categories were highly competitive. Eno Barony beat the likes of Freda Rhymz (Ghana), Rosa Ree (Tanzania), Bombshell Grenade (Zambia), Candy Bleakz (Nigeria), Moozlie / Rouge (South Africa), Ssaru (Kenya) and Ami Yerewolo (Mali).
It is the second time Eno has won the category after her first win in 2020. Eno Barony, real name Ruth Eno Adjoa Amankwah Nyame Adom, is Ghana’s leading female rapper. She made history in 2018 as the first female to be nominated for Best Rapper of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Known for hits like “Wats Ma Name”, “Fear No Man” and “Heavy Load”, she is signed to Magic Mindx Music Group.
Ghana had 21 nominations at this year’s AFRIMMA, with Black Sherif leading with four nods. Other major winners on the night included Fally Ipupa (Artiste of the Year), Davido (Album of the Year for ‘5ive’), Tems (Best Female West Africa), and Ruger (Best Male West Africa).
