Estate Developer Chases Terlabi For Krobo Seat

A Real Estate Developer, John Kenneth Ted-Tetteh, is lacing his boot to unseat the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency in Eastern Region, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries.

John Kenneth, whose father Major Emmanuel Tetteh (rtd)                                                                                                                                        was the former MP for the area, was vetted by the Eastern Regional Election Committee of NDC and cleared to contest the incumbent yesterday.

Ever since he declared his intention to contest the seat, the constituency executives have been divided whereby some have moved to his camp, while the rest are with the MP.

The constituents, especially the NDC delegates, are said to be fed up with the MP due to his abysmal performance in the past years and are threatening to vote against him in the upcoming primary.

Even though the incumbent MP is doing everything possible to win the love of his constituents, most of the electorates have expressed disappointment in him.

John Kenneth, addressing a section of the media after being vetted in Suhum, said, “My mission for which I chose to come into the 2023 parliamentary primaries contest is to become the Member of Parliament, represent the people of Lower Manya Krobo Constituency, impact lives and restore the hopes of the people I represent in Parliament using the NDC as the vehicle.”

According to him, “I will put in place strategy and programmes that will boost the enthusiasm of the grassroots toward the general elections in 2024. Some of these strategies and programmes include; the Series of Reconciliation activities, Launch of a welfare scheme for branch executive members among others.”

He said he will make sure all branch executive members are being trained on campaigning and mobilisation strategies.

He added that, “Apart from pursuing and lobbying for community developments in terms of physical infrastructure like roads, school structures, etc. I intend to also roll out several policies to tackle the basic challenges facing the socio-economic development of the people of Lower Manya Krobo in education, agriculture, health, youth empowerment, youth in creative art, sports, etc.”

“I will also establish MAKLET (Manya Klo Educational Trust Fund), establishment of agriculture mechanisation centres across the constituency, and establish a sports complex to unearth talents in sports,” he said.

The Real Estate Developer, who has since donated an unspecified amount of money to support the construction of the party office complex and provide some logistics to the party, urged the delegates to give him the nod to be the next Member of Parliament for the area.
