Everest Cricket Club and Carel Superkings Cricket Club have made it to the finals of the Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) President’s Invitational T20 Tournament at the Achimota Cricket Oval after winning their respective semifinal matches on Sunday, October 20, 2019.
Everest who won toss on Oval A, and opted to field first, beat United Cricket Club by 6 wickets after they successfully chased a 100 runs target by scoring 102 runs, for four wickets in 16.3 overs in the second Innings.
United CC scored 99 runs for 10 wickets in 19.5 overs in the first innings, a game that saw Bharani Kumar adjudged the Man of the Match, after he took four wickets for eight runs in four overs and scored 13 runs off 16 balls.
Everest Simon Ateak, one of Ghana’s senior national players scored 52 runs, off 42 balls.
On Oval B however, Carel Superkings was impressive in their 5 wickets victory against Supreme Warriors Cricket Club.
Superkings chose to field first after winning toss, and saw Supreme score 95 runs, for 6 wickets.
Carel in the second innings scored 99 runs for 5 wickets in 18 overs while Ghana’s senior national team captain, Isaac Otuafo Aboagye won the Man of the Match accolade with 35 runs off 39 balls, taking one wicket for 21 runs in three overs.
Captain of Carel Superkings, Selvaraj Chockalingam tells TalksenseSports, they aimed at the finals with a strategy.
“We got to this stage by chance but we aimed at getting to the finals, so we monitored our opponents and improved our bowling with the plan to limit them to 70, but they exceeded that. We then came all out to win it.”
It became the end of the road for the all Indian Club, United Cricket Club and the all Ghanaian Club, Supreme Warriors, Cricket Club.
Both Clubs will nevertheless lock horns again in the 3rd place match on Oval B in the early hours of Sunday, October 27 after their Pool B encounter ended in favor of Supreme Warrior.
In the Afternoon on that same Sunday, Everest and Superkings, both from Pool A will be meeting for the second time on Oval A, after their first game in the pool saw Everest victorious.
It will be a repeat or revenge Final encounters of the T20 Invitational Tournament.
The GCA will crown winners of the T20 tournament in a colorful closing Ceremony on Sunday while some companies have started showing interest and support to the Association.
