Daniel Okyem Aboagye
FORMER Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama in the Ashanti Region, Daniel Okyem Aboagye, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration under former President John Mahama for borrowing excessively and not utilizing it to transform Ghana.
“Borrowing is good in governance as the amount borrowed should be used to embark on developmental projects such as roads, schools, hospitals and others, but the NDC’s borrowing brought hardship instead,” he said.
Speaking on Akoma FM in Kumasi, Mr. Aboagye said under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, the government had wisely used every dollar borrowed to embark on developmental projects to benefit the citizenry.
According to the former MP, under the NDC, the country borrowed excessively and it led to the collapse of some banks, high unemployment rate, saying, “Even the excessive borrowing led to the influx of guinea fowls from neighbouring Burkina Faso into the country.”
“The NPP government has used borrowed monies to ensure constant power supply, provision of jobs, construction of roads, construction of schools and others social amenities to improve the lives of the people,” he said.
“This is major difference between the NPP government and the NDC administration, the NPP has the requisite people with the expertise to implement pragmatic policies to accelerate national development,” he added.
The ex-Bantama NPP MP indicated that the NPP government under President Akufo-Addo had proven beyond every reasonable doubt that NPP was the right political party to effectively and efficiently manage the affairs of the state.
He has therefore admonished Ghanaians to allow the NPP continue to rule the country in an effective way and condemn the NDC into perpetual opposition.
