The Weija District Court has sentenced a 42-year-old steel bender, Adu Twum to 10 years’ imprisonment in hard labour for inserting his manhood into the anus of a 9-year old boy.
The convict who had already spent 12 years in prison for defilement was sentenced by the court presided over by Magistrate Bernard Bentil after he pleaded guilty to one count of unnatural carnal knowledge contrary to Section 104 of the Criminal Offences Act.
The convict according to court documents lured the 9-year-old boy into his room under the guise of giving him a gift and ended up committing the vile act on him.
The prosecution led by Detective Chief Inspector Abena Amponsah had told the court that the victim had emerged winner of a dancing competition and the convict promised him a gift.
On February 9, 2021, the victim saw the accused person and requested his gift and the convict asked him to come to his room for it.
The convict is said to have given an amount of GHC3 to the victim and later asked him to bend down.
Adu Twum according to court documents then inserted his penis into the anus of the victim.
The documents say the victim’s friend saw some whitish fluid in his shorts and informed his (victim’s) mother about it.
The victim’s mother then reported the matter to the police and the convict was arrested.
He is said to have admitted to the offense and was subsequently put before court.
