Fake D J Arrested For Fraud At Tesano

Samuel Osei

A 29-year-old self-styled Disc Jockey (DJ) has been arrested by the Tesano District police for allegedly defrauding two ladies the sum of GH¢4,000 under the pretext of giving them accommodations at Fadama and Nyamekye – all suburbs of Accra.

Samuel Osei, the suspect, has been on wanted list since last year for alleged fraud, according to the police.

Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, Superintendent Edward Tetteh, Tesano District Police Commander, said the complainants are a broadcaster and a nurse while the suspect is an active member of a syndicate that has specialised in accommodation fraud.

During the month of June 2017, Samuel Osei and his cohort managed to use three houses to outwit and defraud the first complainant an amount of GH¢2,000.00.

Superintendent Tetteh said a complaint was lodged at the Lapaz police post and while investigation was being carried out, the suspect and other gangsters went into hiding.

He said on May 10, this year, Osei and his cohort used the same modus operandi to defraud the second victim the sum of GH¢2,000.

The second victim said she was taken to Nyamekye junction and the Ga South Municipal Hospital area (popularly called Akawe) and was shown three houses but she was not interested in those accommodations.

According to Superintendent Tetteh, upon a careful comparison, the victim said she selected the house at Nyamekye and so gave the men a rent advance of GH¢2,000.

Osei and his gang were about using the same trick on a third victim – who is a witness in the case – but she suspected foul play and caused their arrest.

It was at the police station that the two other victims came to identify Osei as the man who swindled them using the same modus operandi.

Superintendent Tetteh averred that the suspect had been detained to assist in investigation.
