Fake Flagstaff House Staffer Busted For Fraud

The Mamprobi District police have arrested a 40-year-old man who has allegedly been parading himself as a Flagstaff House staffer and defrauding unsuspecting people using various strategies.

Nii Afade is alleged to have defrauded someone an amount of GH¢5,000 under the pretext of getting him three auction cars, and also a couple GH¢12,200 with the promise of getting them an apartment.

He was arrested when one of the victims reported the matter to the police.

Confirming the matter to DAILY GUIDE, ASP Effia Tenge, Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, said the couple first reported the case to the police when Nii Afade allegedly bolted after collecting the money.

The couple claimed they were looking for accommodation and met Afade, who introduced himself to them as a Flagstaff House staffer who could help them secure one.

On November 23, 2017, Afade was said to have led the couple to Dansoman in Accra to inspect a house and also meet a woman identified as Salomey Morley, landlady of the said house.

After inspecting the accommodation, the couple said they expressed interest and paid an amount of              GH¢7,200, being a two-year rent advance, to Afade, who in turn handed it over to the said landlady.

The couple said they also gave Afade additional GH¢400 as bonus for assisting them get the house.

Two days after paying the money, the couple went to the house for the keys to the rooms only to be told that the house did not belong to any body called Salomey Morley.

Realizing that they had been swindled, the couple reported the matter to the Mamprobi police, leading to the arrest of Nii Afade.

As he was in police custody assisting in investigations, another victim surfaced and identified him as a man who had collected GH¢5,000 from him to purchase for him three vehicles which were being auctioned at the Flagstaff House.
