Fake Soldier In Hot Waters

The Suspect

Prince Ferguson Essel, 27, has been arrested by the Nsawam Police in the Eastern Region for allegedly posing as a soldier.

The suspect, according to reports, has also defrauded many people under the pretext of helping them to get enlistment into the army.

ASP Kofi Sarkodie, the Nsawam Police Crime Officer, who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, revealed that two military men-Captain Albert Kwadwo Evedzi and Sgt Tengey Anthony of Burma Camp, Accra, arrested and transported the suspect to the police station.

According to the Crime Officer, the suspect, Prince Ferguson Essel, was found loitering at Ntoaso, a suburb of Nsawam last week and the natives suspected him of not being a soldier due to his strange behavior.

He said the natives, who feared that the suspect could attack them, informed the two military men from Burma Camp, who mounted surveillance and apprehended him in his room at Ntoaso.

ASP Sarkodie noted that the military men, upon search, found three military uniforms, kit bag, large bag and military belt.

The military uniform and others have been retrieved to help in investigations.

Some individuals, who were defrauded by the suspect, also stormed the Police Station to lodge complaints against him.

ASP Kofi Sarkodie, Nsawam Police Crime Officer, underscored that the police in the area are not going to relent in their efforts to combat crime in the area.

He, however, appealed to individuals to provide information to the police to help arrest criminals.
