Fatau Keita Storms Goethe-Institut

Fatau Keita is billed to perform in a live concert at an event dubbed ‘Goethe-Abansuro’, which is being organised by the Goethe-Institut.

‘Goethe-Abansuro’ is a monthly programme designed to provide a regular platform for young artistes to showcase their artistic creations to a friendly audience on the terrace of the Goethe-Institut in Accra.

It is designed for solo and duet performances by artistes from diverse disciplines. With one CD ‘Selena’ to his credit, Keita’s exciting musical mix blends traditional Dagomba music like ‘Simpaa’ with highlife and takes inspiration from his musical heroes like Salif Keita, Youssou N’Dour, Angelique Kidjo and Fela Kuti.

Fatau has promised to give his fans an extraordinary fun-filled night and thrill them with an unexpected stage performance that would make them leave their seats and dance throughout the performance.

Being a vocalist with an amazing musical expression and intense stage performance, Keita’s live concerts constantly exude intense energy alongside a magnetic stagecraft.

Keita’s acoustic recordings illuminate his musical skills and feel as a soloist, indeed, his studio recordings showcase a strong quest for the popular and, therefore, take musical inspiration from various Ghanaian and non-Ghanaian sources. Consequently, he has created a new vibrant music rooted in his outstanding musicality through contemporary Dagomba culture.

Undeniably, Pan-West African world music, Ghana’s modern popular music, as well as Twi and Hausa ‘lingua franca popular music & culture’ make up the special texture of his music. The programme is being organised and supported by Goethe-Institut Ghana.
