Father Impregnates Daughter

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested Joshua Mensah, 40, for allegedly impregnating his 13-year-old daughter at Daboase in the Western Region.

The suspect, according to sources, had been repeatedly having sex with her two daughters – aged 13 and 10– and impregnating the 13-year-old girl in the process.

DAILY GUIDE learnt that the alleged abominable act by the father was initially reported to the Daboase police by the mother.

This was after the mother, Yaa Foriwaa, 31, who ply her trade in Accra, visited the children at Daboase and realised that the husband had been having sexual intercourse with their daughters.

It was revealed that the father started having sexual intercourse with the girls about a year ago and that he usually beats the girls whenever they attempted to resist.

The 31-year old mother could not hold back her tears when she spoke to journalists about the condition of her daughters.

She indicated that she went to Daboase to pay a visit to the girls, only to find out their father had been having sex with them and impregnated one of them.

According to her, she first reported the matter to the Daboase queen mother, who indicated that the matter had come before her but the man denied it.

Madam Foriwaa then reported the case to the Daboase police, who later arrested Joshua Mensah.

The suspect was later handed over to the personnel of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) in Sekondi for further investigations

Western Regional DOVVSU Coordinator

DSP Frank Nana Assumaning, who confirmed the arrest to journalists, stated that the suspect will soon be arraigned before court.

He explained that in 2017, Joshua Mensah took custody of the two daughters (name withheld) from their mother in Accra and allegedly started having sexual intercourse with them.

“The 13-year-old girl who dropped out of school after her father took custody of her is currently five months and two weeks old pregnant,” he revealed.

According to the regional DOVVSU boss, the two girls had been sent to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi for pregnancy and other related medical tests.

Sources had it that though the two girls (name withheld) reported their ordeal to their grandmother in Daboase, the woman was said to have rebuked them.
