The leaders of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) will participate in a three-day music workshop organized by the International Federation of Musicians (FIM), a worldwide association of musicians unions with headquarters in Paris (France).
Over 30 MUSIGA leaders are anticipated to attend the three-day course, which starts today at the Akosombo Continental Hotel.
The program is being held to help MUSIGA leaders develop their abilities so they can meet the obstacles in their chosen careers.
The Swedish Musicians Union’s Mrs. Gunnel Maria Person Westin and FIM’s Deputy General Secretary, Mr. Thomas Dayan will facilitate it.
It is expected to include some of the most seasoned musicians in Ghana who will offer insights, guidelines, and experiences they have gained over the years in the music industry.
The three-day workshop is a component of FIM’s capacity-building initiative for African music stakeholders.
Collective bargaining agreements, gender concerns, and a union growth roadmap are a few of topics that will be discussed.
According to the acting president of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons, “MUSIGA is focused on building the capacities of its leadership to ensure that they are ready for the transformative work required for it to play its rightful role in the music industry in Ghana.”
