First Lady Supports Sexual Assault Victims

First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo has thrown her support behind Lumière Foundation and New Crystal Hospital to champion advocacy and provide free medical support for sexual assault victims in the country.

The First Lady commended Lumière Foundation and New Crystal Hospital for the initiative to support the vulnerable in society.

She mentioned that her foundation, the Rebecca Foundation which provides various forms of support to women, children and other vulnerable persons will support the project.

Founder, Lumière Foundation and First Runner-Up, Miss Ghana UK 2022 Margherita Melody Nana Adwoa Boatemaa, said the purpose of this project is to collaborate with New Crystal Hospital to provide free medical and psychological support to victims of sexual abuse in the country.

She continued that sensitization campaigns would be carried out through media engagements, outreaches at churches and schools across the country as part of activities to create awareness, offer education on how to prevent sexual assault, and empower victims.

Head of Marketing and Business Development of New Crystal Hospital, Gidel Kwasi Fiavor, mentioned that the hospital has implemented a number of programs to assist women and those who are vulnerable in society, and is glad to collaborate with the Lumière Foundation as part of its 20th anniversary celebration and CSR activity.

He said the New Crystal Hospital will provide the necessary free medical and psychological treatment and support to victims of sexual abuse, which includes but not limited to medical examinations, counselling, and therapy across all its hospital branches; Ashaiman, Tema, Michel Camp, Adjei-kojo and Takoradi.
