Chief Ali Raji

A former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) President,Alhaji Ali Raji, was last Sunday turbaned the head of the Yoruba community in Sekondi.

By the turbanning, he follows in the steps of his forebears who have held the position since the colonial days.

He belongs to the Raji dynasty which was started by a young witty Alfa MuhammedSadikuIsholaRaji from Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria who migrated to the Gold Coast in 1825.

The new head or chief attended St Peters Anglican Primary School and St Peters Middle School from where he proceeded to Sekondi College and then to the Kwara State College of Technology.

The Yoruba community is part of Sekondi, little wonder the traditional authorities showed up during the turbanning activity.

Well-wishers from Accra among them Chief Hamza Peregrino-Brimah also attended the colourful ceremony.
