Newly-elected National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Freddie Blay has thanked the Almighty God and all those who helped him to win the chairmanship contest in Koforidua on July 7, 2018.

Mr. Blay polled 3,021 votes as against 2,550 votes obtained by his closest contender, Stephen Ayesu Ntim.

In a post-election statement, Mr. Blay indicated that “I thank the Almighty God for crowning our efforts with victory.”

“To the elections committee, fellow aspirants, the media, security services, I am grateful.”

The statement added “to the delegates and entire NPP family, I am humbled for the opportunity to serve you once more.”

“I am highly appreciative of my campaign team nationwide, whose hard work won this victory.”

“Let me also take this opportunity to thank President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Bawumia and Mr. C.K. Tedam, Chairman of the Council of Elders. Let us work together to maintain unity, peace and tranquility and discipline to back our government to deliver prosperity to all Ghanaians.”

The new national chairman of the party pointed out that “I take this opportunity to thank Mr. Stephen Ntim and Dr. Richard Amoako Baah for giving me a very stiff competition and magnanimously conceding defeat.”

Mr. Blay promised to unite the supporters of the party at the grassroots level to enable the NPP to be financially self-reliant to “reduce influence peddling and over reliance on external authorities.”

“I call on my supporters to be moderate in their celebrations, as this victory is not only for Freddie Blay but the New Patriotic Party as a whole.”
