In an era where financial connectivity and inclusivity are paramount, introduction of this innovative digital platform, he said, aligns perfectly with the nation’s aspirations for growth and development

“The platform’s focus on providing a secure and efficient means of access to global banking infrastructure not only timely but also addresses our critical need for our diverse population,” he said.

According to the Minister, a country like Ghana will be better placed in terms of global integration particular on the issues of finance and banking.

In his view, the platform would also prevent a situation where people would have to struggle to make banking transactions as students while living in the UK.

He entreated all stakeholders, businesses and companies especially small and medium enterprises to accord the company the needed cooperation to be able to work while taking opportunities provided by the digital platform to expand and transact businesses with people across the globe.

He also assured the management of the company of the government’s readiness to provide the necessary support for the business to thrive whichever way possible given the role e-commerce plays in a globalised economy.

Chief Executive and co-founder of Transfar African Payment, Ryan Romeo in a presentation at the launch said the ‘freedom Bank Account’ which is a digital banking and payment infrastructure is targeted at users from Africa who are provided with a functional digital bank account in which they could receive and send money instantly, make standing orders as well.

He said the company which is based in London was established in 2017 to connect Africa with the rest of the world via financial services to enable people to have full access to banking services where ever they were in any part of the world.

He said the platform which is the first of its kind in Ghana will offer users unique bank account digit protected by the UK financial Services Compensation Scheme.

“We have started this journey from Africa and for us it’s significant that this product is launched in Ghana as Ghana as the gateway to the continent with a stable environment, regulatory, integrity and cutting edge regulatory and a business environment,” he said.
