Comedian Funny Face has been remanded into police custody by the Kasoa-Akweley District Court in the Awutu Senya East District of the Central Region, following his deadly accident over the weekend.

Funny Face, whose real name is Benson Nana Yaw Oduro, is to reappear before the court in two weeks, where he is facing charges of drunk driving and careless driving.

He was arrested on the evening of Sunday, March 24, 2024, after smashing his vehicle into a group of people at Kasoa Kakraba, injuring five people, leaving two in critical condition.

According to eyewitness accounts, the comedian allegedly knocked down five individuals at Kakraba Junction, including a mother and her two children, as well as two motorcyclists.

Funny Face has in recent years been embroiled in a tumultuous relationship with his baby mama, leading to legal and psychological challenges.

He has openly admitted to battling depression, and his public disputes with his baby mama have garnered significant attention on social media.

A video posted on social media showed Funny Face being led away from the accident scene, away from an irate mob which was ready to pounce on him, while bystanders attended to the victims and the vehicle involved in the accident.

Funny Face was heading from the Kasoa Township to the Millennium City area in a black saloon car when the accident occurred.

This is not the first time an accident of this nature involving an individual in showbiz had occurred on that stretch of road, as Stephen Atanga alias Don Little, knocked and killed a motor rider on that stretch about four months ago.

Two of the five victims in the Funny Face accident who were initially unconscious are said to have regained consciousness and are receiving medical treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) reported yesterday.

The two, the woman and the eldest of the two children, aged five, were knocked down by the Comedian together with two men on a motorbike who are also in stable conditions at the same hospital in Accra, the reports adds.

It said the youngest among the five victims, the one-year-old grandson of the woman, had been treated and discharged at the Perucare Hospital at Kakraba.

An eyewitness identified as Ebenezer, has said his mother and five-year-old girl, suffered severe injuries to their legs, body and heads, and were sent to the hospital while unconscious.

The two other victims riding on the motorbike also suffered injuries on their legs and had cuts on their bodies, the report adds.
