Gambia to grant voting right to prisoners

The Gambia is expected to grant voting right to prisoners.

The move comes after several efforts by the Gambia’s Human rights commission to ensure that every adult Gambian can vote as stipulated in the constitution.

When that is done, it will be the first time in the history of the nation for prisoners to vote in national elections.

There are less than seven
months to Gambia’s presidential election.

It remains unclear if prisoners will vote in the upcoming elections.
