Ministry of Gender team celebrating their triumph
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has been crowned champions of the 2026 Civil Service Inter-Ministerial Women’s Football Tournament.
The ministry secured the title after defeating the Ministry of Defence in a closely contested final at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The decisive moment came from a superb free-kick, which proved enough for the Gender Ministry to hold on for victory and lift the trophy.
The triumph formed part of activities marking the 2026 Civil Service Week, held under the theme, ‘The Resetting Agenda for Sustainable Development in Ghana: The Civil Service’s Responsibilities.’
The week-long celebration brought together Ministries, Departments and Agencies to highlight the importance of professionalism, teamwork, innovation and effective public service delivery.
The Gender Ministry participated in several activities throughout the celebrations, including a clean-up exercise at its premises and surrounding areas.
The ministry also took part in the Civil Service Policy Fair and Exhibition at the Accra Sports Stadium, where it showcased its programmes, policies and interventions in gender, children and social protection.
Chief Director Dr. Marian W. A. Kpakpah visited the ministry’s exhibition stand, engaging staff and reviewing the initiatives on display.
The celebrations also featured a cooking competition, with the Gender Ministry teaming up with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition to prepare fufu with goat meat light soup.
The women’s football triumph provided a fitting conclusion to the ministry’s participation in a week that celebrated teamwork, service, collaboration and community engagement.
