The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed all heads of second cycle schools in the Western Region to ensure that teachers under their control have the requisite qualification to teach subjects allocated to them.

The letter, which was addressed to all heads of second cycle schools and signed by its acting Western Regional Director, requested the various authorities to reassign all teachers to teach subjects of study.

It also directed the heads to ensure that with immediate effect all teachers who teach Mathematics and English have the qualification to teach the subjects and those who do not qualify are released to the region.

GES also directed that all teachers with B.Ed in Basic Education and B.Ed Foundation should be released to the districts for reposting to the basic schools where they qualify to teach.

It warned that the directive must be strictly adhered to.
