The 3rd edition of the much awaited Ghana Arts and Culture Awards will take place this Saturday, November 13, at Alisa Hotel in Accra to honour individuals and brands who have made significant contribution to the arts and culture industry in the country.
The awards ceremony, which was launched in September 2019, is being organised in partnership with the National Commission on Culture (NCC), Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), National Folklore Board, Tourism Society of Ghana and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and the ceremony will see 20 categories of individuals and institutions being honoured.
Themed “Rewarding Excellence in Arts and Culture”, the event promises to live up to the hype considering the number of categories and the nominations in those categories.
Some of the categories include Ghanaian Artiste of the Year, Traditional Music Group of the Year, Traditional Dance Group of the Year, Art Festival Event of the Year, Outstanding Cultural Theatre Performance of the Year among others.
A number of personalities including ministers of state, creative arts stakeholders among others have been invited to grace the event which will also witness musical performances from some selected Ghanaian artistes.
Last year’s event saw former Mayor of Accra Mohammed Adjei Sowah honoured for promoting the arts industry, Agya Koo Nimo also received a lifetime achievement award for his great contribution towards the arts.
Afro pop artiste Ssue beat music acts like Wiyaala, Sherifa Gunu, Trigmatic and Worlasi to win the artiste of the year in 2020.
The night witnessed live musical performances as some of the awardees and other artistes mounted the stage one after the other to thrill their fans who graced the event.
This year’s event is sponsored by Alisa Hotel, Verna Natural Mineral Water, Mcberry Biscuit, Planet Drinks and Ceejay Multimedia.
