Ghana Beyond Aid Not NPP, NDC Project – Senior Minister

Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Mafo has urged all Ghanaians to see the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda as a national project and not a political project.

He said Ghana Beyond Aid is not for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or any other political party in the country.

The Senior Minister was speaking in an engagement with some Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Friday, September 6, 2019, at a ceremony organized by the Ghana Beyond Aid Committee.

Mr. Osafo-Mafo who doubles as the Chairman of the Ghana Beyond Aid Committee, said even though President Akufo-Addo conceived the vision for the Ghana Beyond Aid project, it should be seen for Ghana and not for him.

He noted that Ghana cannot continue to rely on aid and grant because they were on sharp decline.

He therefore called for all Ghanaians to embrace a new mindset and do away with the dependency mindset.

The meeting with the CSOs forms part of series of meetings and consultations the Ghana Beyond Aid Committee is holding with key stakeholders to ensure Ghana move beyond aid.

The CSOs were drawn from broad spectrum including gender, finance, disability and management.

The meeting was to seek their inputs into making the document viable one.

The Committee has already met with Council of State, World Bank Officials, among others.

According to the Senior Minister, the President requested each ministry to put in a paper on their own vision of Ghana Beyond Aid.

He added that many Ghanaians decided to contribute papers to the Committee, “people showed dedication and concern about Ghana Beyond Aid.”
